Anne Burrell
Anne W. Burrell was TV personality and ex-chef of the Institute of Culinary Education and previously taught cooking. She hosts The Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, a Food Network host with spiky blond wigs and a pumped-up personality, explains how to prepare restaurant-style meals at home using simple methods. Chef Burrell also worked at the top New York eateries, studied the Italian food and culture as well as participated in Food Network's Iron Chef America. Burrell was born within New York State's Upstate, discovered a love of cooking. She pursued her passion for food and restaurant by enroling in The Culinary Institute of America following the completion of a bachelor's degree in English as well as Communication at Canisius College, Buffalo NY. She states "I enjoyed being a Culinary Institute of America (CIA) student. I enjoyed every moment." The Culinary Institute of America was a great place to study. When I graduated from the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners chef Burrell spent an entire year in Italy studying and working at La Taverna del Lupo restaurant located in Umbria and La Bottega del 30 one Michelin star in Tuscany. Her time spent in Italy helped her to understand and appreciate Italian philosophy and culture, and this has left an impression on her food and culinary experience. Burrell is an ambassador for the celebrity chef to the Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation. She also was a part of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which assists kids who have challenges. As an inspirational speaker, she is on the road to share her passion for cuisine and to promote her professional career as a chef. Throughout Anne's culinary journey she has often said that I am so lucky to be able to share what I love most for life with people.
